I went to Dolphin Discovery on April 7th. This is my second time swimming with dolphins. Last year I swam with the dolphins at Xel-Ha. This year I decided to try something different.

I purchased the SeaLife Discovery Plus swim for $199. This is the swim where you swim with dolphins, sealions, manatees and stingrays. We started off watching a short video and proceeded to enter the water with the manatees and the stingrays. We swam around with them for awhile. We got to feed them and you could have your choice of kissing the manatee for a picture which I did!! They are very gentle creatures and it was a great experience. You can stand on the platform if you wish which is waist deep which alot of people did. Then they brought in a sealion that we were able to take a picture with and they swam by us a few times so we could touch it. I would of liked to learn more about and spent more time with the sealions. I felt too much time was spent with the manatees.

Then we took us to the bird cage where we all stood in line to get our picture taken with the bird.

Finally we were taken to watch a short video on the dolphins and then in a group of 7 we got into the water with 2 dolphins. Everyone got their turn for 2 dolphin kisses (one on the cheek and one on the mouth if you want), a dolphin hug, the dorsal tow, and the foot push which is incredible. They took pictures of all these activities except for the foot push. If you want to see the footpush you have to buy the dvd for $50.00. Free time consisted of us all standing shoulder to shoulder in the water while we sang "TwinkleTwinkle Little Star" and the dolphins swam around us and made noises. Then we splashed the water with our hands and they splashed the water with their fins and it was over. I was expecting alot more free time with the dolphins. We were probably in the water with the dolphins for 25-30 minutes. Then they whisked us off to a tv room where we watched the dvd. Then we went to look at our pictures. I am not sure what the proper cost is but I bought 7 pictures for $77 so that's $11 each. But I think it's because I purchased all my pictures. If you only buy 1 or 2 pictures I think they run from about $13-15 dollars.

Overall it was a great experience and I had alot of fun but I was disappointed overall with the dolphin swim. I would go back to Xel-Ha if I wanted to swim with dolphins again. We had alot more free time with them at Xel-Ha. I felt we learned alot more about dolphins and had alot more time with them. And we were able to bring our own camera with us and take pictures. We weren't able to use our own camera at Dolphin Discovery. It was an experience you won't forget but the dolphin swim felt rushed and I didn't get that bonding experience with the dolphins as I have in the past.

Alberta, same thing happened to me and my family... I only got the dolphin swim acivity but it was all in a hurry and with a lot of people in the same group so it was like all in rush and I really could not enjoy it. My son was asking to pet them but they did not let him until the momment they put us on a row and the dolphin went by, but that was all. 5 seconds or less touching the dolphin.... I think next time I will try Dolphins at Xelha, I was looking for them and found this amazing program: Trek. The program is underwater so I think it could be more exciting.
